Atlas Moth
The Atlas Moth starts off as a caterpillar (obviously). It is green. It eats pretty much anything that is a plant. They grow up to 4.5 inches long. When it’s in its chrysalis it trades a mouth for wings. They can’t eat when they are moths, so they gobble up as much as they can as a caterpillar. The Atlas Moth has a short lifespan when they’re moths. They only live about 5-7 days. DAYS!!! They are found in China, Bangladesh, Cambodia, Hong Kong, India, Laos, Malaysia, Nepal, and Taiwan so, they’re in most of Asia. I once got to see a few in Hershey Gardens. Hershey Gardens is allowed to have them because they keep the females contained. This is important because if the males fertilize the eggs and the caterpillars escaped it would threaten the food chain in Pennsylvania.
